School Tax Information for 2023-2024 School Tax Bill Year

2023-24 Schenectady CSD Tax Bills were mailed on July 31, 2023.

The 2023-2024 Schenectady City School District tax bills have been mailed and are due in four installments as follows:

  • August 31, 2023

  • October 31, 2023

  • January 31, 2024

  • April 30, 2024

We offer three ways to pay your tax bill.   
       

School taxes are paid in four installments (see installment dates listed above or below). Penalties will accrue on late payments. Penalty amounts are shown on each bill.

Mail-In Payment

Please be sure to mail to the above address. Payments mailed to the district office will be forwarded to the Albany Tax Processing Unit for posting.
Payments that are directly mailed to the district office may experience processing delays and are subject to late fees.

Postmark determines the date of payment.

Please pay exact amount due. Overpayments and underpayments will delay the processing of your payment. Please review your check carefully before sealing the envelope.

Please check the small box [X] in the upper left hand corner of your tax stub if you would like a receipt by return mail. After payments are posted (in Albany), receipts will be mailed to taxpayers.

Pay Online

SCSD school taxes can be paid online with credit or debit cards. Please be advised there is a site service fee over and above the amount due to SCSD that goes directly to a third party processor. Please review your payment carefully before submittiing it. Make your online payment here.

Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Bank is available only in the months of August, October, January, and April. Please bring your bill.

Installment Dates

School taxes are billed annually and may be paid in four quarterly installments. Installments may be prepaid. Installments are due as follows:

  • Installment #1 Due:  August 31, 2023

  • Installment #2 Due: October 31, 2023

  • Installment #3 Due:  January 31, 2024

  • Installment #4 Due:  April 30, 2024

Delinquent Tax Payments

Please be advised that the 2023-2024 Schenectady City School District school tax warrant expires on April 30, 2024. Payments by mail must be postmarked by April 30, 2024. Please make sure your check is dated, written, signed and includes the correct amount to avoid having your payment returned.

Any 2023-2024 School Tax remaining unpaid after the expiration of the tax warrant (April 30, 2024) and will then be turned over to the City or County Treasurer's Office responsible for further collection beginning or near May 20, 2024 as follows:

  • Properties located in the City of Schenectady will be turned over the City's Bureau of Receipts: (518) 382-5016.

  • Properties located in the Town of Rotterdam will be turned over to Schenectady County Finance Office: (518)388-4262.
